该片讲述了离家16年的陈家辉（陈坤 饰）在得知父亲陈为民（王劲松 饰）病危后重返家乡，但父亲未留下只言片语便匆匆离世。当拿到父亲的骨灰后，陈家辉与哥哥陈家兴（王砚辉 饰）、姐姐陈家媛（刘敏涛 饰）却发现父亲的身上似乎藏着许多秘密。随后陈家辉通过探寻父亲的生活轨迹，逐渐揭开了这个关于父亲的秘密，而秘密的背后正是家辉与父亲一生也没有解开的结……
